The aim of the PAC is to change the focus from discipline and to focus on positive targets. This might be academic or extracurricular achievements (getting a higher result than usual, playing on a county team, winning something with a local club) or random acts of kindness (opening a door, helping another student or teacher). This is to acknowledge the efforts of all students.
Sometimes as teachers we forget to recognise the efforts of those who are always good and this is an opportunity to reward these students, as well as those who are making an effort. Teachers have positively affirmed over 350 students since the scheme started in April 2018 and over 80 students have received 3 more PACS.
All students who receive 3 or more get a pen and meet with the committee to discuss their achievement. The scheme has been very well received by teachers and students alike and has resulted in an overall more positive atmosphere in the school.
