Below, two of our sixth year students, Lera and Maria, share a series of articles they completed for their project about the United Nations and its role in keeping peace in the world
From the authors:
"We chose this topic because we wanted to understand how the UN works in real life, especially during conflicts like the war in Ukraine. Through our project, we learned that the UN helps people by providing aid, protecting human rights, and trying to solve problems through diplomacy. At the same time, we also saw that it has some limitations and cannot always stop wars.
We decided to share this project on our school Facebook page because we think it is important for students to be more aware of global issues. Even though we are students, these topics affect everyone, and it is important to understand what is happening in the world.
This project is part of our Leaving Certificate Politics and Society course, where we learn about human rights, power, and global citizenship. By sharing our work, we hope to inform others and encourage people to think more about peace, cooperation, and their role as global citizens."
