2nd Year Football South Leinster Final - Creagh College 4:5 Cross and Passion College 1:15. Our 2nd years lost out by the narrowest of margins in Friday's Final played in Tinryland. After a fast start by the opposition we found ourselves 8 points to 1 down, with the cancelling of a great team goal for us not helping our case in settling into the game. The lads overcame this setback to fight back into the game with our inside forward play and goal threat paying dividends. The second half was nip and tuck and we found ourselves leading after two quick fire goals at the midpoint of the half. To their credit Cross and Passion College adapted well to our dominance around the middle and got on top for a critical part of the game and led by 4 points going into injury time. The team never gave up and we got the lead back to 1 point in injury time, but off the resulting kickout the ref called the game to a halt, with our lads ready for one last push to level the game.
It was a great game played by two excellent teams and there was some fine individual performances on both sides. It was a bitterly disappointing loss to take after a brilliant year from all on the panel but we now turn our attention again to the hurling campaign, where we have two wins and a draw, which means we should get a home semi final in the coming weeks. Congratulations to Cross and Passion College and best of luck as they progress on.
