Creagh College Under 16 and 19s Boys kicked off their new season with an away fixture against St Peter’s College last week. After 2 promotions in 2 years the Creagh teams were ready to give everything in their first taste of competition at B grade. The Under 16’s were up first. The starting lineup was Alanas Bacevicius, Mateusz Kupczak, Kolen Czako, Eoin Gethings and Eoghan Moore. Creagh started strong and showed the strength of the squad as even with many players coming off the bench the standard of play didn’t drop. Patrick Jasinski, Antoni Bogacki, Filip Kopczak, Jack Buggy and Nathan Gerreyn all saw gam time in the 1st half as Creagh took a 26 – 11 lead at half time. St Peter’s pushed back hard in the 2nd half to reduce the deficit. But Creagh continued to play their game with Padraig Higgins and Aaron Hourihane making big contributions to help stem the momentum of St Peter’s. Creagh came through the game with a 38 – 28 victory. This team was made up of many of the 2nd year team who won the South East Regional Championship and made it to the All-Ireland Semi Finals last year and will be hoping to build on this victory to make another run at South East Championship.
Under 16s Squad: Padraig Higgins, Aaron Hourihane, Luke Power, MacDara Corbett, Conor Gethings, Alanas Bacevicius, Mateusz Kupczak, Kolen Czako, Eoin Gethings, Eoghan Moore, Patrick Jasinski, Antoni Bogacki, Filip Kopczak, Jack Buggy, Nathan Gerreyn.
Next up were Creagh’s Under 19s who were looking to put behind a painful South East Semi Final defeat last year. The starting lineup consisted of Fionn Kavanagh, Kevin Redmond, Enda Cullen, Max Buggy and Lee Doyle. Creagh started well with a lot of energy and determination. They stifled St Peter’s offence and began to find rhythm as the first half unfolded. Eric Hazaparu, Peter Murphy and Orestas Dunauskas all saw significant game time in the first half and helped Creagh to 24 - 12 Lead at half time. Creagh continued to work hard in the second half with Mateusz Kupczak and Anthony Kozakiewicz also seeing action as Creagh’s chemistry continued to grow in the 2nd half. Creagh ran out 41 – 26 winners at the end.
